Frequently Asked Questions about this Retreat

Should I come alone or with a friend or relative?
This retreat is an ideal place to make like-minded friends, to travel with family or friends, to come as a couple, or to experience solitude and deepen your yoga. Many people enjoy coming alone while others come as a couple or with a friend or family member. Sometimes people come as a group and that can also be delightful.

Is this retreat the same every year?
We have new things in store for you, and yet have kept those activities that people will enjoy  again and again. Our goal is that you will leave with new skills to enhance your life, deepen your yoga, and return home with purpose, commitment, and renewal. Like a favorite vacation, cabin, or cherished memory . . . this retreat is something you can look forward to, that will help you restore, renew and revitalize each time you come.

How much yoga should I be able to do?
You do not need to have experience in yoga to enjoy and learn from this retreat. All levels of yoga will be offered. Everyone, from beginners to advanced practitioners will enjoy the retreat and find yoga that is just right for them. Our goal is that everyone will have a chance to advance their yoga and return home more centered, flexible and focused, no matter what level of yoga.

What is included in the retreat?
Every day will be infused with a variety of yoga to choose from including meditation, pranayama, yoga nidra, restorative, therapeutic yoga, and healing arts. You are invited to enjoy the magic of each day with optional activities ranging from visits to colorful Mayan villages, kayaking, hikes to caves still used by Shaman healers, hiking a volcano, swimming, bird watching, cooking classes, and shopping. Healing arts include a wide variety of choices, and are encouraged for deep restoration and healing. On retreat, you will rest, revitalize, detox and strengthen your body, re-connecting with your spirit. Everything is optional with choices of workshops and training. You will enjoy fantastic organic cuisine with fresh, locally grown food. Yes, the food is divine and the Villa Sumaya cookbook is available for purchase!
